Inside Look: Michelle & Kevin’s wedding, london

sealed with a…pinke promise!

Love knows no boundaries, and every couple has their unique way of expressing their commitment. Recently, I had the incredible pleasure of creating a wedding ceremony where the couple chose an unconventional symbol for sealing their marriage.

The Hackney in East London is such a fab wedding venue! It perfectly set the scene for the laid back celebration that Michelle and Kevin wanted to create.

I loved how much this fun and laid back couple wanted to make the ceremony an enjoyable and inclusive part of the day for their guests. Michelle and Kevin met in South Africa and wanted to incorporate a nod to the country that holds a special place in their heart. Of course I suggested a shot of traditional South African liquor (which was delicious by the way!)

I always love this idea of involving your guests in taking a shot together in the ceremony. It sets the tone for a day of celebration and merrymaking!

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Michelle and Kevin had chosen to write their own vows. They were beautifully written and once exchanged the bride and groom stood facing each other, their eyes sparkling with love and excitement.

Kevin and Michelle had told me that they wouldn’t be doing a ring exchange and so I was really excited about the opportunity to do soemthing different to seal their vows. I suggested a pinke promise and was delighted they were on board!

To start the pinkie promise I began by highlighting the significance of a this most ancient ritual and explained how it represented sincere and unbreakable pledges before asking Kevin and Michelle to intertwine their pinkie fingers. Then, they recited their vows, promising to love, support, and cherish each other throughout their journey as husband and wife.

The guests absolutely loved this idea and there were smiles all around as the bride and groom shared their first kiss and the celebrations continued well into the night.

In a world where weddings can sometimes lose their personal touch, I loved that Michelle and Kevin embraced this idea to reclaim the intimacy and authenticity that a wedding should embody. They beautifully demonstrated that love isn't confined to a gold band but can be celebrated and sealed with a heartfelt pinkie promise.May their union always be filled with love, trust, and cherished pinkie promises that stand the test of time.

I hope this example reminds you that the power of love transcends tradition and that every couple has the freedom to create their own unique rituals. A celebrant wedding gives the opportunity to cherish the simple gestures that hold personal meaning and to embrace the beauty found in the unconventional.
